The effects of ipratropium bromide aerosol and tiotropium bromide(136310-93-5) powder on the changes of lung function parameters in patients with mild to moderate stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) at 6 and 12 weeks were compared.

METHODS: A total of 42 patients with stable COPD were enrolled in a randomized, single-blind, parallel-controlled trial. Patients were treated with tiotropium bromide inhalation (18 μg / time, 1 day), ipratropium bromide aerosol inhalation Group (40μg / time, qid), the total course of treatment for 12 weeks.

Results: There was no significant difference in pulmonary function between the two groups at the end of 6 weeks, and the ratio of FEF25-75 was significantly higher in the ipoprofen group than in the baseline group. At the end of 12 weeks, FEV1, FEF25, FEF50, FEF25 ~ 75 were significantly improved compared with ipratropium bromide group, and there was significant difference compared with the baseline value, and the increase of FEF25 in the tiotropium group was significantly higher than that in the 6th week (P <0.05).

Conclusion: Tiotropium bromide(136310-93-5) can improve the lung function of patients with COPD in mild to moderate stable phase, including small airway lung function.
