The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of tiotropium bromide(136310-93-5) inhalation on respiratory function in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

METHODS: Sixty-eight stable COPD patients were randomly divided into two groups: inhaled tiotropium bromide(136310-93-5) group and non-inhaled control group. Before treatment and 6 weeks after treatment, the patients were randomly divided into two groups: control group (FEV1, FEV1 / FVC, FEV1% predicted) and serum inflammatory mediators (IL-8, TNF-α) were measured before and after treatment.

The results showed that: (1) There was no significant difference in FEV1, FEV1 / FVC, FEV1% predicted value, IL-8 and TNF-α between the two groups before treatment (P> 0.05). (2) The FEV1, FEV1 / FVC, FEV1% predicted by the end of the 6th week were significantly higher than those before treatment (P <0.01 or P <0.05), IL-8 and TNF in the inflammatory mediators (P <0.01), and the treatment group than the control group improved more significantly (P <0.01).
